Noah’s House is a friendly home-from-home in Gillingham, Dorset, where children and young adults, with a range of disabilities, receive fantastic respite care from a qualified carer in a caring and relaxed environment.
Noah’s House was the first project founded by LiveTwice and opened its doors in 2010. Noah’s House provides respite care within a home environment to disabled children and young adults in Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset. Noah’s House is run by the highly dedicated and talented respite carer Suzanne with the help of her husband. It provides regular, occasional and holiday respite care for those with a wide range of disabilities in a safe, fun and nurturing environment that is a world away from institutional care.
Specialising in high quality one-to-one care, Noah’s House is a firm favourite with its regular young visitors. It not only provides an invaluable lifeline of personal, professional respite care not only for children, but also gives a much-needed respite break for parents and families, allowing them to also take ‘time out’ to refresh and recharge.
Successful fund-raising events enabled the purchase and installation of a new disabled-access ground floor wet-room, equipped with a shower/changing table and overhead ceiling hoist. These facilities allow disabled showering, and there is also an overhead ceiling hoist in the ground-floor bedroom to assist wheelchair users. We have also received a generous donation of a wheelchair accessible car to make trips with the children easier and more enjoyable for all.
Fund-raising is now going ahead for special sensory-equipment for our downstairs playroom. Please contact us if you are able to help or would like to donate specifically to a piece of this specialist equipment.
At Noah’s House each visitor is treasured with the special care that they truly deserve.
