“Divine intervention at its crudest” led author Harry Bucknall on a pilgrimage to Rome after his laptop was struck by lightning in 2007, wiping out a finished manuscript in the process. Eight years later, great fortune bought him to talk at a picturesque courtyard barn in Wiltshire about his joyous journey. An evening filled with anecdote, adventure and history had all of us enthralled throughout.
It was an honour to meet Harry and hear about his intrepid travels. He had the room captivated in the twists and turns of his adventure, a truly inspirational account. There was a real buzz in the air as people returned to the canapés and drinks, or got their books signed by Harry before heading home.
Raising over £350, it was a triumph of an evening and I would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Harry Bucknall for giving his evening. Finally, I’d like to say a big thank you from the LiveTwice team to everyone who came to support the evening.
If you missed the event and would like to learn more about Harry’s walk from Canterbury to Rome you’ll find the book here. We do hope Harry will return again next year with a talk on his tour of Greece.
